"HOT & STICKY: The Sultry State"
Utilizing contemporary approaches, these 13 Florida residents examine what makes their home state entirely unique. The artists draw inspiration from Florida’s raw natural beauty, vast oceans, habitat, and our co-dependent relationship to it. From documenting, mapping, and translating terrain and data, collecting and assembling artifacts, representing the wild and colorful quirks of the locale, to offering portents of its uncertain future.
Twenty dynamic, 3-dimensional sculptures, assemblages, and site-specific installations are situated within a large, raw, warehouse space that is part open-air during events, keeping the Florida climate integral in the visitor’s experience.
