“Fiber Optics” is a comprehensive group exhibition of 40 Contemporary artists that exemplify fresh, innovative approaches to fibers and expand the definition of “fiber art.” The selected artists reinvent traditional craft processes like embroidery, crochet, knitting, weaving, sewing, and quilting. Rather than follow prescribed methods, they merge craft with sculpture, installation, & video art; and utilize unexpected materials with embedded symbolism. Though the approaches are unconventional, technique, precision, and aesthetic appeal are still at the core of their processes.
This exhibition was funded in part by a CIP grant from the Broward Cultural division.
