CAMOUFLAGE: Patterns of Disruption
at BaCA, Pompano Beach, FL
Camouflage has been used for self-protection and concealment through the manipulation and disguising of materials, patterns, and coloration. These artists similarly challenge perception, manipulating the relationship between figure and ground, creating complex compositions through divergent combinations of bold prints, patterns, textures, and maximalist aesthetics. Their subjects may at first be overlooked amongst visually overwhelming settings, yet rather than try to blend in, they overpower their adverse
environments and actively assert an enduring presence, transcending any marginalization.
